About Me - Personal

Writing Background

I live in the New Forest, a beautiful part of England where you will find me walking with my two Labrador dogs, and either a dictaphone or my camera in hand.

I am a total ‘foodie’ (food lover), a qualified nutritionist, but am also a part-time genealogist, where I can while away the hours researching and delving into people’s past lives and history.

As a writer, there have always been stories roaming around in my head and It would be the most incredible achievement and my aim to become a full-time writer.

2021 - In September, they accepted me into the GCLS Writing Academy where I am honing my writing craft...

Sue & New Forest Shetland Pony

As a small child I was always regaling my siblings with my stories and have always had a vivid / wild imagination.

Despite this I struggled hugely with reading and writing due to having dyspraxia/DCD (and dyslexia) & ASD which left me lacking confidence and self-esteem.

As an adult I am still full of stories but until recently never had the confidence to write them or get them published.

Women's Books.

Whilst living in Cornwall I assisted on a voluntary basis with the setup and running of a local lesbian newsletter for 13 years which gave me a huge insight into localised self publishing and promotion.

I also ran a second-hand women’s books store for 16 years my local women’s community and via mail-order / website.

An avid reader myself I have a huge women’s book collection that I have been collecting for decades and am very proud of.

There is something so lovely about seeing bookshelves full of written works that you can touch and look at whenever you want.

Pink Paper.

In 2006 I saw an article in the ‘The Pink Paper’ the British National LBGTQ newspaper for The Pink Paper & Cassell publishers writing competition.

On a whim I entered (along with 2000 other women) and was very honoured to have to travel to London to receive a runner-up prize.

My First Novel.

In 2013 a good friend of mine suggested we write a novel together and self-publish it.

Thus, taking it off our bucket lists, but also by encouraging and supporting each other along the way. And in 2015 we self published '69 via KDP on Amazon. It was a wonderful experience which has stayed with me ever since.

Because of this (and spending extra time at home through the pandemic), it is now my goal to continue my writing on a more permanent basis and gets those ideas from my head onto paper...

2020/2021 - So far I have written and are being published 3 short stories and currently writing 2 more stories as well as my WIP fantasy novel and have an idea for a female superhero romance novel for after that.
